When I hit Edit, the textboxes appear and I am able to edit my values. In the Row Editing function, the edit textboxes appear and I can get the "old" values Then the page renders, I edit the textboxes and hit Update.
When I hit Update, the changes are not saved, and there is no error message. When I hit Update, the changes are not saved, and there is no error message. Then the page posts back, the text boxes go back to being labels and the new values are lost, and the Row Updating code never fires. Yes, I did put the breakpoint at the Row Updating line (and not in the function).
As I said, I create the Grid View controls dinamically, I don't have asp tags with the Gidview control.
In fact, the first thing I tried was this protected void Page_Load(object sender, Event Args e) public void DT() protected void GView_Row Updating(object sender, Grid View Update Event Args e) protected void GView_Row Canceling Edit(object sender, Grid View Cancel Edit Event Args e) private void Bind Data() if I execute the method DT when Is Post Back then when the gridview enters in Edit Mode and I tried to Update the cells, the Row Updating never fires and after the post back the gridview keeps on edit mode without my changes, but I need to execute this method when is Post Back, in other way the gridview control fade away.
Thanks to all you for answer, but the examples posted aren't my case. The Row Updating event fires fine , but gv2_Row Updated does not fire? Width="99%" Header Style-Css Class="ph Head" Css Class="phone Table" Grid Lines="Both" Auto Generate Edit Button="true" Auto Generate Delete Button="true" On Row Editing="gv2_Row Editing" On Row Canceling Edit="gv2_Row Conceling Edit" On Row Updated="gv2_Row Updated" On Row Updating="gv2_Row Updating" Edit Row Style-Back Color="Light Yellow" Data Key Names="id External ID" If you're manually binding data to the Grid View (not using a Data Source ID), then the Row Updating event will fire after an update command, but the Row Updated event will never fire. Aaron I should have been more specific as to why I need the Row Updated to fire. Code behind:1 protected void btn Update Promotion Items_Click(object sender, Event Args e) 2 Aspx: (field in Bold is where my link button resides)1 Gridview fire message box during rowupdating event During the rowupdating event of my gridview I am basically doing some validation on one of the fields. It looks Row Updated event will not fire unless I use a Data Source ID, which I am not. So, after clicking update, the Row Updating fires but I cannot get the Grid View to exit out of Edit Mode. Datagrid(1.1) to Grid View(2.0) and using the Row Updating event how to extract the values from the controls. If it doesn't meet the requirement, I want a message box to fire with the error statement and have simply an 'ok' button on it. I got to the point where I thought I'd just try random things. The first thing I tried was setting Enable View State to true on the grid (I'd switched it off previously). When the row is in edit mode i display a checkbox and textbox.
