His hometown is Phoenix, Arizona, but he grew up in Michigan and later started working on his music in Los Angeles. He began a relationship with fellow web star Andrea Russett.
He performed in front of a sold out crowd while opening for Aaron Carter.
You recently won the ACM Guitarist Of The Year for 2012.
That must have been a pleasant surprise."It was definitely nice. I've been nominated a bunch of times and never won, so to get it this time was pretty cool.
"Playing places like this, where you can be in front of 80,000 people a night, is a rare experience. On one hand, you're still just playing music with a group of guys, so it's no different from a club gig somewhere."Even so, the guitarist notes that size does indeed matter: "The energy coming from a crowd so huge is very intense," he says.Toward this end, West incorporated synthesizer sounds into his production and dabbled with electronic music, while sampling from a wider spectrum of music genres.Lyrically, the album is more introspective in comparison to its predecessors, as West dedicated much of Graduation towards analyzing himself and conveying his ambivalent outlook on his newfound fame."You can't help but get caught up in it and respond to it.You're a musician, but you become a performer, too.
